The Prophetic Meaning Behind The Logo

logo 2

I felt led to make this page so that there would be understanding of the meaning and purpose of our logo. To begin, I would like share a document from www.princeton.edu, which gives some  background on this mythical bird called “The Phoenix”.

The Phoenix (Mythology)

The phoenix (Ancient Greek:, phoínix, Persian:, Arabic🙂 is a mythical sacred firebird that can be found in the mythologies of the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Chinese, and (according to Sanchuniathon) Phoenicians.

A phoenix is a mythical bird that is a fire spirit with a colorful plumage and a tail of gold and scarlet (or purple, blue, and green according to some legends). It has a 500 to 1000 year life-cycle, near the end of which it builds itself a nest of twigs that then ignites; both nest and bird burn fiercely and are reduced to ashes, from which a new, young phoenix or phoenix egg arises, reborn anew to live again. The new phoenix is destined to live as long as its old self. In some stories, the new phoenix embalms the ashes of its old self in an egg made of myrrh and deposits it in the Egyptian city of Heliopolis (literally “sun-city” in Greek). It is said that the bird’s cry is that of a beautiful song. The Phoenix’s ability to be reborn from its own ashes implies that it is immortal, though in some stories the new Phoenix is merely the offspring of the older one. In very few stories they are able to change into people.

The Prophetic Meaning To New Wind

When I was in Ohio my father and I were on the phone. Before he got off, he said that he had a dream about me which he never said to me before. He began to tell me how he saw the ministry and there were many people there and they were being healed. He saw people he knew from the church he pastored and new people. He said to me that it was like his ministry but wasn’t. Like the phoenix which meant that although it look the same, it wasn’t. His dream was confirmation because I knew that with God sending us here to St. Louis where my father pastored for over 30 years was prophetic. What God started with my Father in this city, he is continuing in my wife and I. So in essence the logo represents a generation that have come out of the ashes to continue the purpose of God that will not die. It also represents a rebirth to the purpose of God because in some cases the previous generation dropped the ball. God always has a generation that chooses to do things the right way. New Wind is a prophetic ministry that is birth out Ezekiel 37  and we are called to speak to the dry bones and see them live again. Shanika and I were in Indiana for a conference in 2011. While in worship I saw the phoenix with the shofar. Up until this point, we didn’t have a logo and I was in prayer for sometime asking God for one.

So I pray that those who read, now have understand and will earnestly pray for us as we build this house for the Kingdom of God!
